The Markham Woods Church's Pathfinder Club has a full program planned
through the end of 2005, and all Markham Woods attenders and their
non-Adventist friends in Grades 4-12 are urged to join the fun.
Pathfinders is an outdoor adventure club that offers a variety of
recreational, social and camping activities. The club is divided into
three segments: Grades 4-6; Grades 7-8; Grades 9-12. The Pathfinders go on
six campouts each school year (with an additional backpacking trip offered
for Grades 7-12). Campouts are on the second weekend of September,
October, January, February, March and April.
The annual Church Retreat, will held on the last weekend of October,
provides an additional camping opportunity for a Pathfinder's entire
family.
In the past, Pathfinders were charged dues. However, in 2002, in
harmony with Markham Woods Church's overall philosophy of contributions
(see "`Free for All' Philosophy," page 29), we dropped the dues
and just encouraged families to make a contribution. For several years our
dues were $120 for Grades 4-8 and $60 for Grades 9-12. However, dues, even
when charged, covered only about 20 percent of the total cost of running
the club. The rest has been met by Church Budget allocations and direct
contributions from people with a burden for ministry for children and
youth.
Pathfinder meetings are conducted twice monthly on Wednesday evenings
from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. For further information regarding Pathfinders,
please phone the church office (407-862-7578). The Pathfinder schedule for
2008/2009, will be posted shortly.
Please note: Meetings are twice a month but not necessarily every
other week. Remember to check the dates carefully.
