Eager Beaver Mission Statement
Statement of Mission
The mission of the Markham Woods Church Eager Beaver Club is,
through a variety of hands-on activities, to develop in the church's
children a lasting respect and love for God, for family, for others,
for the church and for nature.
Statement of Philosophy
Eager Beaver-age children are discovering their own identities, developing
values and expanding their horizons in a variety of ways. The Eager
Beaver Club offers an experience beyond Sabbath School that is both
unique and appealing, and that for many may not be available anywhere
else.
The Eager Beaver Club utilizes hands-on activities,
geared specifically for this age group, to provide experiences and develop
skills that will be beneficial throughout life.
Statement of General Goals
-
Assist Eager Beavers in understanding the love
of Jesus and that He has a plan for their lives.
-
Teach children both individual and social skills
through hands-on activities.
-
Create a bond of friendship between other children
and respect for adults.
-
Ensure a sense of belonging--to the Eager Beaver
Club, to the Markham Woods congregation and to the Seventh-day Adventist
denomination.
-
Inspire a desire to serve others.
-
Promote a love and respect for nature.
-
Instill a sensitivity for the feelings of others.
-
Teach personal responsibility and self-control.
-
Encourage children to transfer the skills and lessons
learned in Eager Beavers to the family, school, church and community
setting.
Children Enjoying New Eager Beaver Program
Since September 1999 four- and five-year-olds haven't had to
sit at home while their older siblings are at Pathfinders or Adventurers.
Instead, they now come along to church and enjoy the Eager Beaver program.
Some 20 Eager Beavers have registered.
Eager Beavers, a program promoted by the Florida Conference,
provides social, recreational and craft opportunities for preschool-age
children within the church. Their programs, held on Wednesday evenings,
run concurrently with Pathfinders and Adventurers (see Pathfinder schedule)
but run only for one hour. Dues for the year are $30.
For further details
about the Eager Beaver program, phone the church office (407-862-7578).
